Great post. As usual, you offered thought provoking insights and knowledge. Thank you for sharing.

“…if the left started a campaign to arm every Black American…”

I am one to believe this should happen fast and it should happen now.

Endangered groups of people should be able defend themselves against well-armed aggressors by any means necessary.

No argument from me. The only reason I do not own a gun is because I have an autistic child. Can't risk it under any circumstances.

Yes this comment stopped me cold. If there was an active campaign to do this, the right would lose their shit.

And I would heartily support it all marginalized communities doing this.

Breaking News is Trump is discussing taking guns away from people deemed unstable. Can't have a proper Dictatorship with people who might object to him crashing the economy, destroying jobs, eliminating the Constitution, and Health Insurance.

Wow! I wish I could write this well. Bluesky has actual news? I will check it out.

Expand full comment

Yeah, it's not as robust as Twitter but it's getting there. Thank god.

Expand full comment

We WILL get there… of course, I still have to figure it out…😆

Also, TY! :)

I have avoided social media since the 2016 debacle. Bluesky has given social media back to the people. It's getting as good as Twitter used to be. I have found intelligence, information and compassion. It's great!

Why are these people always fucking mad?? They have truth social and x. Go hang out with your MAGA friends and leave us alone. I see some of them have come to Substack too. Ugh!!

I have fears that the next administration (trump will probably die soon) will take measures to censor news and sources like Bluesky. We’ve already seen the power of one person, with Twitter/X (shitter). This is right out of Orban’s playbook for control of Hungary, removing access to information.

Expand full comment

I know they want to. It's going to be an uphill battle to do it. That pesky constitution is in the way for now.

Expand full comment

The Republican political hacks on the Supreme Court will likely take care of that sooner rather than later.

Expand full comment

Wasn’t the newly appointed FCC chair hired with the intent of shutting down ALL liberal/ left-leaning media AND the internet if necessary to control the non-MAGA masses? In other words, to get rid of the free speech element of the constitution, just like Hitler, Mussolini and (not sure about) Orban did?

Never had a Twitter account, thanks to Trump. So grateful and relieved you are here and there’s a Bluesky

There were multiple assignments:

1. Leave fascist propaganda social media in droves *before* the election

2. Vote Blue in droves

3. Block Nazi-enabling legacy media on Bluesky

Maybe more thinking people will actually get the 3rd assignment right.

That little earwig Elon isn’t as intelligent as he thinks he is, or pretends to be. Take away the goddamn money, and he’s just a simple fucking troll- like all the bitter little incel bullies and Nazis bathing themselves in hatred on Twitter.

Not only that, Elon’s always half-assing shit. Shit like properly designing vehicles, for one thing- but he sure half-assed his Twitter takeover. He scrawled a big “X” on it for a new name but never bothered to come up with something else to call the ‘Tweets’ on X. He caused chaos and riled up trolls and Nazis like himself.

I’m thinking Elon’s looking to treat US government agencies the exact same way. He doesn’t care about what he’s doing, and he enjoys ruining shit for everyone. He doesn’t have to worry about consequences because he’s the richest person in the world. That’s for the rest of us to worry about.

Not to criticize you, but I really prefer people who are not personally acquainted with someone like Musk to use the last name -- first name implies a friendly/affectionate relationship (to me). I would never refer to Trump as Don or Biden as Joe. Personal preference.

Expand full comment

😂’Not to criticize me’….if that was true, you would’ve read it and then moved on without commenting, instead of writing your criticism down and informing me of your preferences. Your preferences are fine- as your own personal preferences to follow. Speaking of personal preferences….I, as a non-journalist dogface rando internet user writing my posts, don’t have to consider other people’s preferences for how I should refer to public figures in my writing and my posts.

I can refer to walking narcissistic disasters like Elon as “Fuckface-In-Chief”, if I want.

I don’t care what your preferences are, and I don’t have to consider them. I have zero respect for Elon & Donnie. So if not respecting them horrifies you, go right ahead and fuck off.

"I don’t care what your preferences are, and I don’t have to consider them."

Exactly correct. Good day.

LOL- what an asshole😂

If you agree, why didn’t you STFU in the first place, Michael?

(That was a rhetorical question- continue fucking all the way off.✅)

Expand full comment

BTW, Michael- I noticed you don’t post any writing- there’s nothing on your page but restacks, so you just pointlessly troll people. Like an asshole. Reported.

Expand full comment

Wow. You really hate. But that's OK. Have a great evening.

Expand full comment

Yep- and you’re just a troll. ‘Bye

Expand full comment

Wow Michael! How strange you think anyone cares about your preferences. Go back to Xitter. Maybe some Nazis will care. 💩

Expand full comment

In my post, I simply stated how I would do something and said it was my preference. For that, you and JL are equating me to Nazis. Is there some overreacting here? Your reactions are what I see from the actual Nazis on Xitter and other sites. Sad.

Expand full comment

1) It was your comment on my post, not your post.

2) I don’t know you, and you informed me you didn’t think I respected obviously corrupt billionaires enough- that’s the point of what you were doing, while claiming to not be criticizing. Back to my first reply to you: if you didn’t intend to criticize me, you wouldn’t have said any of that sniping bullshit. But no- you had to ‘put me in my place’ and lecture me about how you would address them- even though you haven’t posted any writing whatsoever on your page.

PS. Blocked.

If I had ever had a rational, respectful conversation with a MAGA on Twitter, I wouldn’t have deleted my account more than 2 years ago. Their immediate, go-to response is hostile personal attack, name calling and whatabouutism. There was never -ever- a defense of their sides’s position. Not once.

Stellar post. Not sure why or how I found you on this platform but look forward to your insights every day. You really knocked it out of the park with this one. Happily sharing it far and wide. Thanks again!

It is mind blowing that the trumpers, who have been spewing every lie fox or Newsmax invents, are actually even using the term echo chamber. I love it! X will be truth social within a month- nobody but trump's favorites: the poorly educated.

Thank you, OO, for making me crack up first thing in the morning (even though the subject matter is generally about crazy Trumpian right-wing toxic garbage). I love your posts.

I will say, as I have before, that The Guardian remains one of the few legacy news oulets that doesn't seem to have bent the knee. And, they're actively on Bluesky.

I’m on Spoutible and it’s way better than Xitter, BlueSky or ZuckerThreads. BlueSky does not allow you to flag or remove accounts that harass and threaten you. The CEO of Spoutible opened his BlueSky acct, made a post and promptly got called the N word by a RW troll.

Expand full comment

Considering the people there called romance writers "sluts" and harassed them is all I need to know about that platform.

I joined BlueSky a week ago because I discovered all my faves that I liked on Xitter are now there. I broke up with Elon years ago, really missed a few commenters and I don’t like Threads that much. Just added you to my follows.

That said, no Nazis allowed in my feed has been wonderful. I don’t mind a difference of opinion, but Nazi propaganda is for losers. If you aren’t sure if you’re a Nazi here’s a handy guide:
