Thanks for the calm message. And I will focus on the two most important causes for me: LGBTQ rights (especially trans rights) and reproductive freedom. You are right about panic; it does little good in the long haul. But mostly what I am is angry. Angry at the many Americans of low to moderate means who actually feel this will benefit them.

The rubes think FDJT will lower gas and food prices -- and deport every illegal immigrant in this country. Even if he doesn't succeed on either, they stick with him because he hates the same people they do.

That's Christian nationalism at play.

I've picked my lane: women's rights. I donate to the ACLU and PP. Cecile Richards' death today was her final act of defiance to that MF. May she rest in power.

I don’t think Republicans realize the shellacking they’re going to get this year in Wisconsin, Virginia and Pennsylvania. And in 2026…. they certainly will lose the House. Senate is trickier but there will be a wave of angry voters so any purple or light red seat is up for grabs with the right candidate and political momentum.

And for the 2026 midterms, hit Rs on the inflation that FDJT said he wanted to lower (but didn’t). Say that “Donald Trump and [insert vulnerable R name] said they would lower the cost of food and gas. They lied.” Or something like “[insert R name] increased the price of food.”

At. All. They’re still talking about “working across the aisle.” And fucking Gallego, I donated to his campaign even though I live in Oregon, and he co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. There must be something in the water in AZ.

Yeah. VERY disappointed to see Mark Kelly’s name on the list of Dems in support. I get he’s from a border state, but that’s insufficient for supporting Republicans on anything.

Call them. It's actually effective if we ALL call.

I'm not trolling here, I am genuinely curious what makes you so sure there is going to be a midterm "shellacking." That's all we heard about the 2024 election too. Blue tsunami, Republicans have no idea what's going to hit them, women are furious and Republicans are about to feel it, etc etc etc. Obviously none of that happened. I guess it turned out women weren't so angry after all. I would love a blue wave in 2026, but goddamn, I just don't see that happening. We all need to prepare ourselves that Repubs could, and likely will, still have a trifecta in 2026.

The Republican Party has already started with the judges. In NC they are attempting to throw out over 60,000 votes to declare the Republican candidate the winner. The Democratic justice won the 2024 election by over 700 votes.

We are raising hell here in NC s asbout this— and the DNC finally took notice two weeks ago. Now Jefferson Griffin has scrubbed his social media platforms and websites of contact information. Even two of the R judges on NCSC are warning he isn’t likely to succeed on lack of evidence.

Still don’t trust Rs to do the right thing.

Of course not. They may slink back under their rocks, briefly, when they get called out. But they'll be right back lying and lawbreaking as soon as enough people turn away.

Correction: Over *60* thousand votes. Ten times what you noted.

Which brings up a good question: If all of those votes are invalid (they aren't) then aren't they also invalid for Trump? Answer per Republicans? Of course not. They're only invalid when the vote was for a Democrat.

I did a quick check and Donny Convict won NC by 80000, so even if all 60k were for him, rejecting them wouldn’t change the outcome.

But the point remains, Republicans lie when they lose. Hell, their standard operating mode is to lie all the time about anything. It’s their first response to everything.

"SCOTUS can only greenlight so many unconstitutional power grabs in one year"

And now I just got a mental image of Alito saying "Hold my beer."

As you say, the reputation of the Court is in shambles. What in the world makes you think the justices (and yes, I'm looking at ALL NINE "We don't need no ethics policy" of them) care at all about their reputation?

I was pondering his desire to revoke birthright citizenship all night. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he can't apply this particular piece of cruelty retroactively, can he? So anyone who was born before this particular little unconstitutional stunt goes into action would be safe?

He can't do it all. It's pure theater. You can't just remove a Constitutional amendment through executive order.
