Trump Literally Foamed At The Mouth. Where's The Press Freakout?

How is this not the front page story of every newspaper?

I know I’m a few days late to the party on this one but, apparently, so is the entire American mainstream media. This is not going to be a deep analysis but, seriously, we need to talk about what happened.

Real quick, in case you missed it, which, considering the lack of wall-to-wall coverage it didn’t get, that’s not surprising. Donald Trump released a campaign video and it was…not good. In it, he has spit flying out of his mouth and he has foamy nastiness gooping up while he’s ranting about some fucking thing or another:

Ok, that is fucking gross. He looks insane and…ew. I know the press has been working nonstop to gloss over Trump’s escalating physical and mental problems but, are you fucking kidding me? He’s foaming at the fucking mouth like a rabid animal!

Here’s where I remind you, yet again, and I will NEVER stop reminding you, that the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the New York Times wrote EIGHTY-THREE ARTICLES about Joe Biden’s age in just THREE DAYS because a single Republican who obviously had a partisan agenda said Biden was old.

The Wall Street Journal just tried to blow up Biden again over his age last week with one of the most hilariously partisan hitjobs since “But her emails.” It was so over the top that it failed miserably.

Kathleen Parker at the Washington Post clowned herself over the weekend with another “I don’t support Trump the convicted felon but Biden is just as bad because he’s old!” op-ed. I tear her apart in this week’s Banter article due out on Tuesday. They’re all still trying to find some way to talk about Biden’s age.

Now here’s Trump foaming at the mouth, something they would burn Biden to the ground over, and…crickets.

OK, I lied, we’re digging into this.

Let’s say you’re willing to overlook Rabid McRapey spitting and foaming at the mouth as an obvious sign of physical and mental deterioration. We all have bad days, right? Shit happens. You can say something weird during a campaign rally like “I don’t care about you. I just want your vote,” while your cult members are collapsing from heatstroke and the press can play it off as “That Trump! Isn’t he so wacky?!”

Or you can malfunction over and over and over again and the press will just look the other way. But there’s another, equally important, layer to this that the press is very studiously ignoring: This was an official campaign ad.

Ah. Yes. That’s a problem. A potentially fatal one.

Rallies and other public appearances are unpredictable and can only be controlled up to a certain point. But an official campaign video? That’s as edited and perfect as you want it to be. It’s not reality. It’s what the campaign wants it to be. And the Trump campaign chose to put out an ad where Donald Trump is spitting and foaming at the mouth.

This is where I remind you that just a few weeks ago, Politico seriously said Trump’s 2024 campaign was much more professional than his 2020 and 2016 campaigns. I might have had sharp words about that on my podcast…

A professional campaign would commit hari kari before allowing that video on air. They saw this and ran it, on purpose. That’s fucking insane. Have we heard about Trump’s comms team mysteriously disappearing or being fired? I would have had their kneecaps broken for this. What is going on over there?

There are five possibilities I can think of right off the top of my head:

1. Trump’s comms team is actually that bad at their jobs that they somehow did not notice their boy spitting and foaming like someone had just convicted him on 34 felony counts. Oh, wait! That actually happened! Hahahahah!

2. Trump likes to surround himself with ass-kissing Yes Men and not one of them had the balls to tell The Dear Leader he looked like he had just found out he owes $83.3 million to one of his rape victims.

3. Trump is a giant baby and when someone tried to tell him they needed to reshoot, he threw a temper tantrum because it was past his nap time. “That was the most perfect shot ever! We don’t need a second take! You’re fired!”

4. Trump is deep in the throes of dementia and increasingly incoherent. That was the best shot they could get. One can only imagine what the outtakes look like…

5. Trump is an abusive asshole. It’s very possible that his comms team is underpaid (or not paid at all) and absolutely hates him. They were quite aware of the spittle and foam and “accidentally” left it in. Whoopsie!

Whatever the reason, if his campaign is this stupid/unprofessional/incapable of corralling Trump this late in the election cycle, they are fucking doomed.

In the meantime, we should be asking the Washington Post, NYT, and WSJ why they don’t think this is important enough for the same kind of wall-to-wall coverage they kept giving Joe Biden’s age. We already know the answer, of course, but we should make them squirm like the rat bastards they are, anyway.
